SYMPTOMS
========
You cannot type in the body of a new MSN Explorer e-mail message. The font does
not appear or appears as white font matching the background. The e-mail font may
be viewable when received by the addressee.
CAUSE
=====
This issue can occur for any of the following reasons:
- You have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or greater and you are running
Microsoft Office 97--Office 97 contains corrupted registry entries that
occurred during the installation process. This corruption causes the spelling
checker feature to fail and as a result you cannot compose e-mail messages in
MSN Explorer version 6.1/7.0.
- Rich Text Editor is not enabled for MSN Explorer e-mail.
- MSN Messenger is corrupt or not installed.
RESOLUTION
==========
Install the Micrsoft Office 97 Service Pack, turn on Rich Text Editor, and
install MSN Messenger (if necessary).

To turn on Rich Text Editor
1. Sign in to MSN Explorer, type www.hotmail.com in the Address box, and then
click GO.
A message will appear asking if you want to go to www.hotmail.com or read your
e-mail with MSN Explorer.
2. Click Go to the Hotmail Web site.
3. Click Compose , and then click the Tools drop-down list in the left upper
corner of message.
4. Select Rick Text Editor ON
Allow a moment for the changes to take effect. You will see new Rick Text
features in the message area.
5. Sign out and quit MSN Explorer.
6. Start MSN Explorer, and then sign-in.
7. Click Email, and then click Write E-mail.
You should be able to type in the body of your e-mail messages now.

To install MSN Messenger
1. Sign in to MSN Explorer, type messenger.msn.com in the Address box, and then
click GO.
2. Click Download Now.
3. Click Run from Current Location.
