SYMPTOMS
========

You experience one of the following:

You sign in to MSN Explorer. MSN Explorer freezes and logs you out of the
session. You restart MSN Explorer and sign on. Instead of seeing the MSN
Homepage, you see this message:

  "Your version of Internet Explorer is out of date. We are sorry; the problem
  you've just encountered has been fixed in the most recent version of Internet
  Explorer. If you install the most recent version, you will be able to avoid
  this problem in the future. You can download the most recent version of
  Internet Explorer by clicking on the following link:"

You sign in to MSN Explorer. MSN Explorer freezes and logs you out of the
session. You restart MSN Explorer and signs on. Instead of seeing the MSN
Homepage, you see this message:

  "Your version of Direct X is out of date. We are sorry; the problem you've
  just encountered has been fixed in the most recent version of Direct X. If
  you install the most recent version, you will be able to avoid this problem
  in the future. You can download the most recent version of Direct X by
  clicking on the following link:"

CAUSE
=====

MSN Explorer does not find the current versions of Micrsoft Internet Explorer or
DirectX on your computer. The above messages will appear every time MSN Explorer
freezes and logs you out of an online session.

RESOLUTION
==========

If you already have the latest Internet Explorer version 5.5 or greater, or the
latest DirectX version, bypass the error message by closing out the message
screen. The MSN Explorer homepage should appear after that.

  http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/recommended/ie55sp1/default.asp

- If you need to update your DirectX version, go to:
  http://www.microsoft.com/directx/homeuser/downloads/default.asp
