SYMPTOMS
========

When you start any of the Encarta programs listed at the beginning of this
article, and then click various features, content may not be displayed properly
or you receive an error message. You may receive an error message similar to one
of the following:

  Encarta did not find the page or keyword you searched for. To continue
  searching, try one of the following actions:

- Click Back or Forward arrows on the menu bar.

- Enter a new keyword in the Find box, then click Go.

- Choose a new option from either the menu or toolbar.

- Open a new feature home screen.

- A blank white page

  -or-

  Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error
  Runtime Error!
  \enc200x.exe
  Abnormal program termination

If you are veiwing a Web pages and you receive an "HTTP 404" message, refer to
the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  Q264284 What to Do When You Receive 'The Page Cannot be Found' Error Message
  in Your Browser

NOTE: If this message is displayed in certain places, places with the product, or
with specific articles or media (other than Web pages), this indicates an issue
reading the product disc. Cleaning the disc will often resolve this issue.

CAUSE
=====

This behavior can occur if you have installed Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0
Public Preview at any time in the past.

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this issue, update to the final release of Internet Explorer version
6.0. This is available for download at:

  http://www.microsoft.com/ie

Please note that restoring Windows back to the previous configuring (uninstalling
Internet Explorer 6 Preview) will not solve this issue.
