SYMPTOMS
========
When you play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 and use a Microsoft SideWinder
Force Feedback 2 game controller, you may be unable to control the throttle as
expected.
When you test the game controller throttle in the Gaming Options dialog box, the
throttle works properly.
CAUSE
=====
This behavior can occur if either of the following conditions is true:
- You install the SideWinder Force Feedback 2 game controller after you install
Flight Simulator 2000.
-or-
- The Flight Simulator 2000 game controller calibration is damaged.
RESOLUTION
==========
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
NOTE: Because there are several versions of Windows, the following steps may be
different on your computer. If they are, please consult your product
documentation to complete these steps.
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. In Control Panel, double-click Gaming Options (or Game Controllers in
Microsoft Windows 2000).
3. In the Gaming Options dialog box (or Game Controllers in Windows 2000), click
the game controller that you want on the Controllers tab, and then click
Properties.
4. In the "SideWinder Force Feedback 2 Properties" dialog box, click
<None> in the "Select a game profile to use with your joystick" list on
the Profiles tab, and then click OK twice.
5. Close Control Panel, and then start Flight Simulator 2000.
6. On the Flight Simulator 2000 menu that appears, click Fly Now.
7. On the Options menu, point to Controls, and then click Sensitivities.
8. In the CONTROLS SENSITIVITIES dialog box, click "Microsoft SideWinder Force
Feedback 2" in the "Device type" list on the Joystick tab, and then click
"Reset defaults".
9. Click the "check mark" button to save your changes.
10. Test the SideWinder Force Feedback 2 throttle control during game play.
