SYMPTOMS
========
MSN versions 5.1 and below include a setting for configuring the allowable
amount idle time before an Internet connection is disconnected. With versions
5.3, 5.4, 6.0 and 6.1, no such setting exists. Users of these versions must
configure idle time settings via modems.
CAUSE
=====
A discontinued feature causes this issue.
RESOLUTION
==========
To configure idle time
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Modems icon.
3. Select the appropriate modem from the list, and then click the Properties
button.
4. At the top of the properties window, click the Connection tab.
5. Select Disconnect if idle?, and then type the desired idle time in the
Minutes box.
Note: If you do not want to be disconnected automatically, uncheck this box.
6. Click OK, and then click OK again.
7. Exit the Control Panel.
