The information in this article applies to:

- Microsoft Internet Information Server versions 4.0, 5.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

After you install Crystal Reports 8 from Seagate Corporation, you may notice
that your ASP pages no longer function, in which case you receive the following
error message in the system event log:

  Event ID 36
  "Server failed to load application "/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT" no such interface
  supported."

CAUSE
=====

This behavior may occur because, during the installation of Crystal Reports 8,
permissions for the registry subkeys and their lower-level subkeys are modified.
The permission setting for the Everyone group is changed from Special Access to
Full Control. The following is an example of the affected registry subkeys:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC\odbc.ini
  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{000204EF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\6.0\9\win32
  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib
  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface

Or, obtain a more recent copy of Crystal Reports from Seagate.
