SYMPTOMS
========

The MSExchangeMTA service may stop unexpectedly with an "access violation" error
message and cannot be restarted. When you manually start the service, it stops
responding with the following call stack in the dump file:

FramePtr  RetAddr   Param1   Param2   Param3   Function Name
010cf0f4  00410e6f  010cf11c 00000000 00000000 EMSMTA!odpinaat+0x6b
010cf134  0040b5fd  012cfd70 00000000 00000001 EMSMTA!odpbcfra+0x9a

In addition, MTACHECK does not recover the issue when it occurs. Mtacheck.exe
stops with the following call stack in the dump file:

CAUSE
=====

This behavior occurs because the working queue object (usually 00000027) is
damaged. When the recovery procedure attempts to recover the object, the object
is wrongly regarded as a damaged message. This occurs because the property array
of a queue object is different than that of a message object. The later
reference to the property array causes the "access violation" error message.

RESOLUTION
==========
