SYMPTOMS
========

You may be unable to start the trial version of Microsoft MapPoint 2001.

In addition, you may receive the following error message:

  Your trial version of MapPoint 2001 has expired and the program will no
  longer run.

CAUSE
=====

This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:

- The trial version of Microsoft MapPoint 2000 is installed on your computer.

- You installed the trial version of MapPoint 2001 in the same folder as the
  trial version of MapPoint 2000.


RESOLUTION
==========

To prevent this issue from occurring, remove the trial version of MapPoint 2000
before you install the trial version of MapPoint 2001.

If the issue continues to occur, contact Microsoft Product Support for additional
assistance. To do this, call (425) 637-9308, or use the following Microsoft Web
site to submit a question to a Microsoft Support Professional using Microsoft
Online Assisted Support.
