SYMPTOMS
========
When Windows detects a new Plug and Play device in your computer and you are
prompted to locate the device drivers, you may receive one of the following
error messages:
A Fatal Exception OD has occurred at <memory address>
-or-
Msgsrv32 has caused a General Protection Fault in module Kernel32.dll
-or-
Msgsrv32 caused an invalid page fault in Msgsrv32.exe
-or-
MSGSRV32 caused an invalid page fault in module Kernel32.dll
-or-
Msgsrv32 caused a General Protection Fault in Msgsrv32.exe
NOTE: You can also receive these error messages if you refresh Device Manager,
and then browse to install the drivers of any detected device.
RESOLUTION
==========
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to
correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems
that are experiencing this specific problem.
