SYMPTOMS
========
After an administrator configures an Audit policy which includes "File and
Object Access" events and a User policy which specifically excludes the "Bypass
Traverse Checking" permission, the computer may become very slow to respond or
may stop responding to new logon requests over a period of time.
CAUSE
=====
This problem can occur if the computer running Windows NT is running out of
paged pool memory. This can occur because paged pool memory is being allocated
by the kernel and is never released.
RESOLUTION
==========
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to
correct the problem described in this article and should be applied only to
systems experiencing this specific problem.
