The information in this article applies to:

- Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

On a source-routed Token Ring network, your Windows NT-based computer may
experience delays or loss of connectivity when you attempt to communicate with
other hosts using TCP/IP.

Investigation using Ipconfig or the route print command reveals that the IP
address of your default gateway has changed to the address of your local host.

CAUSE
=====

This behavior can occur if TCP/IP receives an invalid ARP request by way of a
new source route in which the sender's protocol address field in the ARP packet
is 0.0.0.0.
