SYMPTOMS
========

When accessing an Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0 Web site that
requires a client certificate, the server-side variables do not consistently
identify the authenticated client and often the variables contain garbage
characters.

RESOLUTION
==========

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to
correct the problem described in this article and should be applied only to
systems experiencing this specific problem.
