SYMPTOMS
========

If you start the Spooler service immediately after stopping it (for example, by
typing "net stop spooler" (without the quotation marks) and then immediately
typing "net start spooler" (without the quotation marks)), you may receive the
following error message:

  The Spooler service could not be started.
  A system error has occurred.
  System error 12 has occurred.
  The access code is invalid.


RESOLUTION
==========

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to
correct the problem described in this article and should be applied only to
systems experiencing this specific problem.
