SYMPTOMS
========

When you review Mailbox resources in the Microsoft Exchange Server Administrator
program, the Item Count and Mailbox size may appear inconsistent with the actual
number or size of items in the mailbox.


CAUSE
=====

When you open a mailbox item, modify it, and then save the changes, the number
of items in the mailbox is incremented and the size is increased according to
the item size unnecessarily.

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server 5.5.

posting to scan this file for viruses. Once posted, the file is housed on secure
servers that prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server
version 5.5. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 5.5 Service
Pack 4.
