Changes in the Close Combat III Update
--------------------------------------

The Close Combat III Update includes the following changes:

- Connection stability is significantly improved in multiplayer games.

- Multiplayer games are far less likely to stop responding (hang).

- The game no longer hangs occasionally when you view the map.

- Bazookas and Panzerschrecks now take longer to reload.

- The strategic artificial intelligence (SAI) engine no longer purchases twice
  the correct number of tanks for the current map.

- If you have surplus equipment at the beginning of an operation, you now
  receive 50 points instead of 10 points.

- The computer is less likely to send armor units to an area where it already
  lost some of its vehicles during the current battle.

- Pathfinding is improved for short paths.

- When the SAI plays a defensive position, the computer's units are more likely
  to remain in place until the enemy makes contact.

- Units executing Move or Sneak orders now make better use of defensive
  terrain.

- The computer now accepts a truce after 5-15 minutes if no fighting occurs or
  no victory locations change sides.

- A progress meter is now displayed during long data transfers in multiplayer
  games.

- The AB GDs 120mm mortar no longer has two mortar tubes.

- Machine guns can now directly target antitank (AT) guns and heavy mortars.

- Units no longer conserve ammunition as quickly as they did in version 3.0.

- AT guns now take more time to reload.

- The computer is now less likely to camp when it has an advantage.

- The long and medium range kill power of all units is now more realistic.

- Improved realism for location and damage of shell hits on the Joseph Stalin
  II (IS-2) tank.

Multiplayer Games
-----------------

When you play a multiplayer game in Close Combat III, each player in the game
must have the same version of the program installed on their computer.

Removing Close Combat III After You Install the Update
------------------------------------------------------

The Close Combat III Update installs certain files that the original Close Combat
III uninstall program cannot remove. To remove Close Combat III after you
install the Close Combat III Update, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Games, point to Close
  Combat III, and then click Uninstall The Russian Front.

2. Follow the instructions on the screen to remove the program.

3. Click Start, and then click Run.

4. In the Open box, type the following line (including the quotation marks), and
  then click OK

  "<drive>:\program files\microsoft games"

  where <drive> is the letter of the hard disk on which Close Combat III
  was installed.

5. Right-click the Close Combat III folder, and then click Delete. If you are
  prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes or Yes To All.
