SYMPTOMS
========

When you attempt to play a full-screen video in Microsoft Encarta Reference
DVD-ROM Suite 99, you may receive the following error message:

  AN ESSENTIAL COMPONENT FOR FULL SCREEN VIDEO IS MISSING

  Your DVD-ROM driver software does not support DirectShow, which Encarta
  Encyclopedia uses to display videos at full screen size. To correct the
  problem, contact the manufacturer of your DVD-ROM drive to receive updated
  DVD-ROM driver software. If your DVD-ROM drive came with your computer,
  contact the computer manufacturer.

CAUSE
=====

This behavior can occur if the DVD decoder card device drivers installed on the
computer do not support Microsoft DirectShow.

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this issue, contact the manufacturer of your DVD decoder card for
information about how to obtain updated decoder card drivers that support
DirectShow.

NOTE: The manufacturer of your DVD decoder card may not be the same as the
manufacturer of your DVD-ROM drive.
