SYMPTOMS
========

When you run a program that uses Microsoft Direct3D to display graphics, you may
experience slow performance in the program.

CAUSE
=====

This behavior can occur for either of the following reasons:

- An AMD K6-2 microprocessor is installed in your computer and your video
  adapter is not compatible with AMD 3DNow! technology.

- DirectX 6.0 or later is not installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this issue, do the following:

Update Your Video Driver
------------------------

Contact the manufacturer of your video adapter to inquire about how to obtain and
install the latest version of the video driver for your video adapter.

To identify the manufacturer and model of your video adapter:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2. Double-click System.

3. If you are using a Windows 95/98-based computer, click the Device Manager
  tab. -or- If you are using a Windows 2000-based computer, on the Hardware
  tab, click Device Manager.

4. Click the plus sign (+) next to Display adapters to expand the branch.

5. Under the Display adapters branch, note the manufacturer and model of your
  video adapter, and then click OK.

6. Close all open windows.

Install Microsoft DirectX
-------------------------

To install Microsoft DirectX, download the latest version of DirectX from the
following Microsoft Web site:

  http://www.microsoft.com/directx/homeuser/downloads/default.asp
