SYMPTOMS
========
When you try to edit a WordArt object, you may receive the following error
message:
Word cannot edit the Microsoft WordArt 2.0.
-or-
Word cannot edit the object.
CAUSE
=====
The WordArt object was created in an earlier version of WordArt.
WORKAROUND
==========
To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods.
Method 1
--------
Remove and re-create the WordArt object. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Delete the existing WordArt object.
2. On the Drawing toolbar, click the Insert WordArt button, select a new object,
and then click OK.
Method 2
--------
Install the earlier version of WordArt. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Start the Setup program for one of the following programs:
- Microsoft Works for Windows version 3.0
- Microsoft Word for Windows versions 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c
- Microsoft Publisher version 2.0
- Microsoft PowerPoint version 4.0
- Microsoft Office versions 4.0, 4.2, 4.3
2. Click Custom Installation.
3. Click to clear the check marks from all check boxes except the WordArt check
box.
4. Complete the installation. You should now be able to edit the WordArt object.
