SUMMARY
=======

Microsoft has released an updated version of Encarta Virtual Globe 99 that
resolves the following issues:

- Encarta Virtual Globe 99 configures Microsoft Internet Explorer to be your
  default Web browser.

- Encarta Virtual Globe 99 installs a version of the Mfc42.dll and Msvcrt.dll
  files that is incompatible with the America OnLine (AOL) software included
  with Microsoft Windows 98.

  NOTE: AOL also has an update available that resolves this issue.

To determine your version of Encarta Virtual Globe 99, follow these steps:

1. Insert the Encarta Virtual Globe 99 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. Press and
  hold down the SHIFT key when insert the CD-ROM to prevent the program from
  starting automatically.

2. On the desktop, double-click My Computer.

3. Right-click the Encarta Virtual Globe (CD-ROM drive) icon, and then click
  Explore.

4. To determine the version of the program, check the dates of the following
  files on the Encarta Virtual Globe 99 CD-ROM:

   - \Aref\System\Mfc42.dll
   - \Aref\System\Msvcrt.dll
   - \EVG\Setupenu.dll

The following table lists the dates of these files for each version of the
program:
