This article describes how to test 360-degree views without starting Encarta 98
Encyclopedia. This method can be useful for troubleshooting problems with
360-degree views and virtual tours in Encarta 98.

Encarta 98 Encyclopedia Deluxe Edition uses Apple Computer's QuickTime
technology to play 360-degree views.

To play a 360-degree view from the Encarta 98 Encyclopedia CD-ROM, follow these
steps:

1. Insert the Encarta 98 Encyclopedia CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. Press and
  hold down the SHIFT key as you insert the CD-ROM to prevent Encarta 98
  Encyclopedia from starting automatically.

2. Click Start, and then click Run.

3. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK

     <drive>:\encyc98\mm\qtm

  where <drive> is the letter of the CD-ROM drive that contains the
  Encarta 98 CD-ROM.

4. Right-click the T620603a.qtm file, and then click Copy.

5. Close the Qtm window.

6. Click Start, and then click Run.

7. In the Open box, type "." (without the quotation marks), and then click OK.

8. On the Edit menu, click Paste.

9. Right-click the T620603a.qtm file, and then click Rename.

10. Type "T620603a.mov" (without the quotation marks), and then press ENTER.

11. Double-click the T620603a.mov file.

12. Play the 360-degree view.
