SYMPTOMS
========

After you insert an HTML Markup in a page, illegal HTML comment code may
gradually be deleted one or two characters at a time from the front of the
Markup each time you save or reopen the page.

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this behavior, use one of the following methods:

- If you are using Microsoft FrontPage 97, upgrade to FrontPage 98.

  -or-

- Use an alternate HTML code (or codes) that accomplishes the same thing.

  Note: Legal HTML comments begin with the following characters:

    <!--

  and end with the following characters:

    -->

  Example: <!-- This is a legal HTML Comment -->

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products that are
listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft
FrontPage 98 for Windows.
