- Microsoft Visual FoxPro for Windows, versions 5.0, 5.0a
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY
=======

When displaying a MSGraph chart using OLE automation, the Data Series defaults
to "Series in Rows" in Visual FoxPro. If the graph needs to display the Data
Series as "Series in Columns", MSGraph version 8.0 allows changes to be made
programmatically using the PlotBy property. In MSGraph 5.0, you may change to
"Series in Columns" manually by double-clicking the graph object and selecting
the "DATA - SERIES IN COLUMNS" menu items.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The following code creates a table with a general field and adds a graph. The
code creates a form that displays the graph object. Pressing the command button
toggles the Data Series between Rows and Columns.

     * Create a table with a general field and add
     * a graph.
     IF ! FILE("mygraph.dbf")

                 + "Data1" + chr(9) + "5" + chr(13) + chr(10) + "Data2" ;
                 + chr(9) + "10" + chr(13) + chr(10)
              APPEND BLANK
              APPEND GENERAL graph_fld CLASS "MsGraph.Chart" DATA graph_var
     ELSE
              IF ! USED("mygraph")

     oForm.Ole1.ChartTitle.Font.Bold = .T.

              Width = 100

              PROCEDURE Click

              * Check what PlotBy is set to and change it.
              IF oForm.Ole1.Object.Application.PlotBy = 1

                     oForm.Ole1.Object.Application.PlotBy = 1
                     oForm.Command1.Caption = 'Plot by Column'
              ENDIF
              Thisform.Refresh

     ENDDEFINE
     ************** End of Code ******************

Click the command button to toggle between "Series in Rows" and "Series in
Columns".

If an OLE exception code error occurs stating that the Application does not have
the PlotBy property, then the computer needs upgrading to version 8.0 of
MSGraph, also known as Microsoft Graph 97.

Running the code in Microsoft FoxPro version 3.0 or 3.0b fails on the If
statement line with the following error:

  OLE error code 0x8002006: Unknown name.
