SUMMARY
=======

This article describes several methods you can use to improve game performance
in Microsoft Golf.

MORE INFORMATION
================

To improve game performance in Golf, use the following methods:

Quit Unnecessary Programs
-------------------------

To increase the amount of available resources on your computer, quit all programs
that are running before you start Golf.

Disable Extra Game Features
---------------------------

The Game Sounds, Commentary, Shadows, and Auto Flyby features can reduce game
performance if your computer meets or only barely exceeds the minimum system
requirements to play Golf. To disable these features, follow these steps:

1. Click Options, and then click Game Preferences.

2. Click the box beside each feature to change it from Yes to No.

NOTE: You may want to leave the Commentary feature enabled if game performance
is satisfactorily improved by turning off the other features.

3. Click OK.

For information about the minimum system requirements to run Golf, see one of the

Golf, remove and reinstall Golf using the Full Installation option. To do this,
follow these steps:

1. Insert the Golf 98 CD-ROM or Golf 99 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. If the
Setup program does not start automatically, follow these steps:

  a. Click Start, and then click Run.

  b. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK

  <drive>:\setup.exe

where <drive> is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive.

2. Click Uninstall Golf 98 or Uninstall Golf 99, and then click Yes.

3. If you are prompted if you want to remove your personal game files, click Yes
  or No as appropriate.

4. Click OK, click Exit Setup, and then click Yes.

5. Click Start, and then click Run.

6. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK

  <drive>:\setup.exe

where <drive> is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive.

7. Click Install Golf 98 or Install Golf 99, and then follow the instructions on
the screen. When you are prompted to select the installation option you want,
  click Full.
