SYMPTOMS
========

When you try to apply any of the above service packs, the following error
message appears:

  Not a full Exchange system. Cannot continue with update.

CAUSE
=====

The Microsoft Exchange Windows 95 or Windows NT client is actually the installed
Windows Messaging client rather than the retail version of the Exchange client.

WORKAROUND
==========

To work around this problem, remove the Exchange Windows 95 or Windows NT
Messaging client completely and install the retail version of the Microsoft
Exchange client by following the steps below:

NOTE: These steps are for installing Service Pack 3 on the Microsoft Exchange
client version 4.0. You must make adjustments for installing other versions and
service packs.

1. Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.

2. Select the Windows 95 Setup tab or the Windows NT Setup tab.

3. Select the Windows Messaging option in the Component List.

4. Click the Details button.

5. Clear the Windows Messaging option check box.

6. Click OK to confirm your selection.

7. Click OK on the Add/Remove Programs Property page to finalize the changes.

8. Install the retail version of the Exchange client.

9. Install Service Pack 2, following instructions in the Exchange Service Pack
  Readme.txt file.

10. Install Service Pack 3, following instructions in the Exchange Service Pack
  Readme.txt file.
