SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to send or receive e-mail messages on MSN, The Microsoft
Network, using Hotmail's Web-based e-mail client, you receive the following
error message:
Account failed: Permission denied.

This behavior is by design.

To access your MSN e-mail account, you must use an e-mail client that supports
Secure Password Authentication. Hotmail's Web-based e-mail client does not
support Secure Password Authentication.
