SUMMARY

This article describes how to manually install components of MSN, The Microsoft
Network, version 2.51 and Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 from the MSN
2.51 CD-ROM.

To install an individual MSN 2.51 or Internet Explorer 4.0 component from the
MSN 2.51 CD-ROM, use the following steps:

1. Insert the MSN 2.51 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the
  SHIFT key when you insert the CD-ROM to prevent the MSN 2.51 Setup program
  from starting automatically.

2. Click Start, and then click Run.

3. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click Browse

  "<drive>:\Msnsetup\Compnts\ " (without the quotation marks)

  where <drive> is the letter of the CD-ROM drive.

4. Double-click the installation file of the component you want to install.

  NOTE: If the installation file of the component you want to install is located
  in the Ie4inst folder, double-click the Ie4inst folder, and then double-click
  the installation file of the component you want to install.

5. Click OK.

6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation of the
  component. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

7. Repeat steps 2-6 for each component you want to install.

Msnsetup\Compnts folder on the MSN 2.51 CD-ROM:
