SYMPTOMS
========
When you click Multiplayer on the Microsoft Age of Empires startup screen, the
Connection Type dialog box may be empty.
CAUSE
=====
This behavior can occur if DirectPlay is not completely installed.
RESOLUTION
==========
To resolve this issue, reinstall DirectX. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Insert the Age of Empires compact disc into the CD-ROM drive. Press and hold
down the SHIFT key when you insert the compact disc to prevent Age Of Empires
from starting automatically.
2. Double-click My Computer.
3. Right-click the Age of Empires (CD-ROM drive) icon, and then click Install
DirectX 5.0 (Win95 only).
4. Click Reinstall DirectX.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen. If you are prompted to restart the
computer, click OK.
