SYMPTOMS
========

When you copy text from Encarta Encyclopedia and then paste the text into an
empty document in Microsoft Word, the default paper size in Word is reset to
letter.

RESOLUTION
==========

To work around this issue, use the following steps:

1. Select the text or article you want to copy from Encarta Encyclopedia.

2. On the Options menu, point to Copy, and then click the appropriate command.

3. Start Microsoft Word to create a new document.

4. Press ENTER to place a paragraph mark at the beginning of the document.

5. Paste the selected text from Encarta Encyclopedia into Word. To do this,
  click Paste on the Edit menu.

6. Remove the paragraph mark from the beginning of the Word document.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at
the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The default paper size is reset only in the document into which the text from
Encarta is pasted. The default paper size is not reset for any other Word
documents.
