SYMPTOMS
========

When you attempt to install Microsoft Expedia Trip Planner 98, you may receive
one of the following error messages:

  Please run Setup to install this product.

  Failed to initialize - terminating.

When you click OK, you are returned to Windows.

RESOLUTION
==========

To work around this problem, run the Setup program directly from the Expedia
Trip Planner CD-ROM. To do so, use the following steps:

1. Insert the Expedia Trip Planner CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. Press and hold
  down the SHIFT key when you insert the CD-ROM to prevent the Expedia Trip
  Planner Setup program from starting automatically.

2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

4. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Install, and then click Next.

5. When the Expedia Trip Planner Setup program is found, click Finish.

6. Follow the instructions on the screen to install Expedia Trip Planner.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Expedia Trip Planner
98. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
