This article describes a Visual Basic for Applications macro that returns the
total number of sections in a Microsoft Word document.

The following sample Visual Basic for Applications macro returns the total number
of sections in the active document:

     Sub CountSections()
        MsgBox ActiveDocument.Sections.Count & " section(s)."
     End Sub

For more information about returning section information, click the Office
Assistant while in the Visual Basic Editor, type "sections" (without the
quotation marks), click Search, and then click to view "Sections Collection
Object."
