SYMPTOMS
========

A DDEML client performing frequent Connect/Advise operations alternating with
frequent Unadvise/Disconnects on the same server, topic, or item may cause the
server to leak globally shared memory. The leakage will progress until there
will be insufficient resources to run any applications besides the server. At
this point, the server must be closed to free up memory.

CAUSE
=====

When the client DDEML window is destroyed by a call to DdeDisconnect, there are
still posted messages in the queue to this window, causing this leak.

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or
Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information,

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows NT
Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. This problem was first corrected in Windows
NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition
Service Pack 4.
