SYMPTOMS
========
When you open a Microsoft Word for Windows 95, Japanese version 7.0 document
into Microsoft Word 97 for Windows, English (United States) version, the
document may be empty and the file size may be zero kilobytes.
CAUSE
=====
This problem occurs with documents created with the Japanese version of Word 95
on the Japanese version of Windows 95, and the document properties contain
certain FE (Far East) Japanese characters. The converter for Word 97 does not
recognize these characters and will not convert the document.
STATUS
======
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word 97 for Windows.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Word 97, Service Release 1, for Windows.
