SYMPTOMS
========

When you copy and paste a table cell into another part of your document or into
a new document, the cell width changes to the width of the first column of the
original table.

WORKAROUND
==========

To change the width of the pasted cell back to the original width, follow these
steps:

1. In the original table, click to place the insertion point in the copied cell.

2. On the Table menu, click "Cell Height and Width," and then click the Column
  tab.

3. Make a note of the measurement in the "Width of column <x>" box, and
  then click Cancel.

4. Click to place the insertion point in the pasted cell.

5. On the Table menu, click "Cell Height and Width," and then click the Column
  tab.

6. In the "Width of column 1" box, type in the width of the column from step 3,
  and then click OK.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products that are
listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem has been corrected in Word 2000.
