Removing Protect It!
--------------------

Although it is not recommended that you remove Protect It! (because you lose
security functionality) you can remove the program by following the steps below.
The first step in removing Protect It! is to remove the restrictions for each
Family Member and to disable Protect It!. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Protect It!.

2. Click a family member in the Family Members box, click Set/Change, clear all
of the check boxes in the "Protect It! - Limit Access to Computer (Step 1 of
3)" dialog box, and then click Next.

3. Clear all check boxes in the "Protect It! - Limit Access to Programs (Step 2
of 3)" dialog box, click Next, and then click Finish.

4. Verify that the following text is displayed next to the family member's
  name:

  <NOT RESTRICTED>

5. Repeat steps 2-4 for each family member listed in Protect It!.

6. In the Protect It! Options area on the main "Protect It! - Family Member
Options" dialog box, click the Enable Protect It! check box to clear it.

7. Click Close.

To completely remove Protect It! you must follow the command line instructions
included on the last page of the CD-ROM's jewel case booklet. The following text
is from that page:

1. Put your Microsoft Plus! For Kids disc in the CD caddy (if needed), and then
insert it into the CD-ROM drive.

2. Click the Start button, and then click Run.

3. Type: rundll32.exe d:\protect!\piclean.dll,clean, or if your CD-ROM drive
letter is not D:, substitute the letter of your CD-ROM drive.

4. Exit and restart Windows.

After following the steps above to remove Protect It!, remove Plus! for Kids, and
then reinstall the program without installing Protect It!. To do this, follow
these steps:

1. Insert the Microsoft Plus! For Kids CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.

2. Click Install Plus! for Kids.

3. Click Remove All, and then click Yes. (You are warned that Protect It! is a
system component that will not be removed, click OK.)

4. When Setup is finished, click OK.

5. Start the Plus! For Kids Setup program again.

6. Follow the instructions on the screen. When you are prompted to choose the
type of installation, click Custom Install.

7. In the Options box, click the Protect It! check box to clear it.
