SYMPTOMS
========

If you do not have an up-to-date Msn.ini file, the following symptoms may
occur:

- When you connect to MSN, The Microsoft Network, you see the Welcome pages or
  the first-time user experience pages, even though you have previously signed
  on to MSN.

- New items are not added to the Program Viewer menus as the items become
  available.

- The same items are displayed on the Onstage.msn.com or www.msn.com and you
  have to refresh the page so that the page displays the correct information.

CAUSE
=====

In Microsoft Internet Explorer, the option to check for newer versions is not
set.

RESOLUTION
==========

The Msn.ini file controls how the menus are built in Program Viewer. Set the
option to check for newer versions of Internet pages so that new Msn.ini files
are downloaded when they are available:

If you are using Internet Explorer 3.x
--------------------------------------

1. Start Internet Explorer.

2. On the View menu, click Options, and then click the Advanced tab.

3. Click the Settings button, and then click the Every time you start Internet
  Explorer text box to select it.

4. Click OK until you return to Windows.

Internet Explorer 4.x or 5.0
----------------------------

1. Right-click the Internet Explorer icon, select Properties, and then click the
  General Tab.

2. In the Temporary Internet files area, click the Settings button.

3. Select Every visit to the page in Internet Explorer 4.X and select
  Automatically in Internet Explorer 5.0.
