Word 97 Readme
--------------

The Wdread8.txt file contains late breaking news about installing Word 97 as well
as other general information. To locate this file, open the Office folder on the
Word 97 or Office 97 compact disc.

Office 97 Readme
----------------

The Ofread8.txt file contains late breaking news about installing Microsoft
Office 97 as well as other general information. To locate this file, open the
Office folder on the Office 97 compact disc.

Netwrk8.txt
-----------

If you have a license to install Microsoft Word 97 or Microsoft Office 97 on more
than one client computer, there are two ways you can install Office: You can
distribute the Office disks to each end user or you can install Office on a
network and have each end user install from that location. The Netwrk8.txt file
explains the second option. This file is located in the Office folder on the
Word 97 or Office 97 compact disc.

Office Assistant
----------------

Office Assistant is an animated character that provides help, advice, and
guidance. The Assistant offers tips based on the work that you are doing. When
you are in the middle of a task and need help, click Office Assistant to get the
help you need. You can also double-click Office Assistant and type a question to
get the answer you need.

To turn on Office Assistant, click the Office Assistant button on the Standard
toolbar, press F1, or click Microsoft Word Help on the Help menu. To customize
Office Assistant, click Office Assistant with the right-mouse button, and then
click Options.

Help
----

To access Help, click Contents And Index on the Help menu. The Contents tab
displays the table of contents, the Index tab displays a list of help topics,
and the Find tab offers full-text search to look up specific information based
on words or phrases you type.

ScreenTips
----------

Word uses ScreenTips to display information about specific elements, such as
comments, footnotes, endnotes, and information about tracked changes. Word also
displays the names of toolbar buttons or other screen elements in ScreenTips
when you rest the mouse pointer on any of these items. In addition, you can
access ScreenTips for screen elements by clicking What's This on the Help menu
and then clicking the screen element.

"Getting Results"
-----------------

Getting Results is a comprehensive electronic guide to using Office 97. You can
read this document using Internet Explorer, version 3.0, or any other web
browser capable of displaying frames.

NOTE: You can install Internet Explorer by double-clicking Msie30.exe (located in
the ValuPack\Iexplore folder on the Word 97 or Office 97 compact disc). You can
also download and install Internet Explorer from the Microsoft web site, located
at the following address:

  http://www.microsoft.com/ie/ie.htm

To open "Getting Results," click "Getting Results Book" on the Office Shortcut
Bar. If you are not running the Office Shortcut Bar, insert the compact disc
into your CD-ROM drive, open the Cdonline folder and then double-click the
Result97.htm file. If you are connected to a network drive, open the Microsoft
Office folder on the network, and then double- click the Result97.htm file.

NOTE: If you installed Office from compact disc and you are running the Office
Shortcut Bar but the Getting Results Book button is not available, rerun Office
Setup and select the Getting Results Book option.


Microsoft Visual Basic Help
---------------------------

Microsoft Visual Basic Help is available when you use the Microsoft Visual Basic
Editor or when you double-click the Vbawrd8.hlp file in Windows Explorer. This
component is not installed by default. To install it, rerun Setup, click
Add/Remove, and select the component you want.

Microsoft on the Web
--------------------

If you have Internet access, you can connect to the Microsoft Web site directly
from commands on the Word Help menu. On the Help menu, point to Microsoft On The
Web, and then click the category you want.

Microsoft Press Books
---------------------

A variety of books, published by Microsoft Press provide beginning, intermediate,
or advanced information about Microsoft Word or Microsoft Office. To view a list
of titles, use the following steps:

1. On the Help menu, click Contents And Index, and click the Find tab..

2. In box 1, type "Microsoft Press" (without the quotation marks).

3. In box 2, select Press.

4. In box 3, select Microsoft Press books about Word, and then click Display.

--------------------

Microsoft Order Desk at (800) 360-7561 and request the specific item. If you are
