SUMMARY

Msinfo32 is a utility for troubleshooting problems with your Microsoft Windows
95/98 or Windows NT-based computer. A special multimedia version of the
Msinfo32.exe file is included on the product CD-ROM with many recent Microsoft
products.
The multimedia version of the Msinfo32.exe file contains functions for testing
sound cards, display adapters, and CD-ROM drives.

Some Microsoft programs may install the Msinfo32.exe file in the following
folder on the hard disk:
Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Msinfo
To determine if the copy of the Msinfo32.exe file on the hard disk is the
multimedia version:
1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.
2. In the Named box, type "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotation marks), and then
click OK.
3. In the list of found files, right-click the Msinfo32.exe file, and then click
Properties.
4. On the Version tab, note the File Version. Versions 2.5 and higher of the
Msinfo32.exe file include the multimedia test functions.
The following list shows the most common multimedia versions of the Msinfo32.exe
file:
