SYMPTOMS
========

When you start one of the programs listed at the top of this article, you
receive an error message:

  Runtime error 13: Type Mismatch

CAUSE
=====

The Regional Settings in the Control Panel is set to something other than
English (United States).


RESOLUTION
==========

To end the error message, use one of the following methods

Method 1
--------

If you are using version 1.0 of the products listed at the top of this article,
you can run these titles using English (United States) in the Regional Settings
of the Control Panel.

  -or-

Method 2
--------

You can obtain a revised executable file that will allow you to maintain your
current Regional. To obtain the file, do one of the following:

- Download the file from the World Wide Web (WWW) at
  http:\\www.microsoft.com\mastering. Replace the existing executable on your
  hard drive with the revised executable.

  For more information about how to accomplish this task in Windows, see your
  Windows printed documentation or online Help.

  -or-

- Obtain a replacement compact disc (version 1.0a) by contacting Consumer Sales
  at 1-800-426-9400. The Microsoft part numbers for version 1.0a are:

  Mastering Visual C++ 087-056-403
  Mastering Access Programming 087-056-303
