The information in this article applies to:

- Microsoft Bookshelf 98 for Macintosh

SYMPTOMS
========

When you start Bookshelf, you receive the following error message:

  Bookshelf requires the AppleScriptLib extension in order to use Apple Guide.
  The installer on the CD can install Apple Guide properly.

If you click Continue, Bookshelf starts successfully, but you are not be able to
use Bookshelf Guide.

After running the Bookshelf installation as the message indicates, you may
continue to receive the error message.

CAUSE
=====

The file AppleScriptLib version 1.1 is not in the active Extensions folder.

RESOLUTION
==========

To end the error message, do the following:

1. If you have the error message on the screen, click Quit.

2. On the Bookshelf 1996-97 compact disc, double-click Installer.

3. At the Easy Install window, click Customize.

4. Select the Apple Guide option appropriate for your computer and version of
  the system software.

5. Click the Install button.

When the installation completes, restart your computer and start Bookshelf.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The AppleScriptLib is not installed if Apple Guide version 2.02 or later is
already installed on the computer.

Bookshelf Guide is accessed from the Help menu (the question mark in the upper
right corner of the window, or from certain sub-screens in Bookshelf (such as
the Address Builder).
