GETTING STARTED
===============

Installing The Magic School Bus Explores the Ocean:
---------------------------------------------------

***Windows 3.1***

1. Start Microsoft Windows.

2. Insert The Magic School Bus Explores the Ocean CD-ROM in your
  CD-ROM Drive.

3. From Program Manager File menu, choose Run.

4. In the dialog box, type the following command, substituting
  letter of your CD-ROM drive for drive d: and press ENTER.

  D:\setup

5. Follow the instructions on the Setup screen.

***Windows 95***

1. Start Microsoft Windows 95

2. Insert The Magic School Bus Explores the Human Body CD-ROM in
  your CD-ROM Drive.

3. The Magic School Bus Explores the Ocean will setup
  automatically.

Running The Magic School Bus Explores the Ocean:

3. From Program Manager File menu, open you (sic) MSKIDS group.

4. Double-click on the Magic School Bus - Ocean icon.

***Microsoft Windows 95***

1. Start Microsoft Windows 95

2. Insert The Magic School Bus Explores the Human Body CD-ROM in
  your CD-ROM drive.

3. The Magic School Bus Explores the Ocean will start
  automatically.

4. Note: If your CD was already in the CD-ROM drive, do the
  following:

  a. Point to Start.

  b. Point to Programs.

  c. Point to MSKIDS.

  d. Click on the Magic School Bus - Ocean icon.

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
===========================

- A Multimedia PC or compatible with a 486/25 or higher
 microprocessor.

- 4 MB of RAM (8 MB recommended for better performance).

- 6 MB of free hard disk space.

- Double-speed CD-ROM: The CD-ROM drive can transfer data from
 the CD-ROM at 300 KB per second while using less than 40% of
 the CPU bandwidth and has an average seek time of less than 400
 milliseconds.

- MS-DOS CD-ROM Extensions (MSCDEX) version 2.2 or later. Check
 the documentation that came with your CD-ROM drive.

- Super VGA display capable of displaying 256 colors at 640 x 480
 resolution. "Scholastic's The Magic School Bus Explores The
 Ocean" requires a display driver and monitor capable of
 displaying 256 colors with a color palette in Windows. Using
 more than 256 colors may affect performance. A local bus video
 card is recommended.

- MS-DOS operating system version 5.0 or later.

- Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or later.

- Windows compatible sound card, such as

- Ability to play CD audio through sound card.

- Speakers or headphones.

- Microsoft mouse or compatible pointing device.

TROUBLESHOOTING SETUP
=====================

***Microsoft Windows 3.1***

Not enough disk space
---------------------
Setup requires approximately 6 MB of free space on your hard
drive to install the program. If you have less than 6 MB of free
space, you will get this error message. You will need to free up
space on your hard drive and reinstall the program. To find out
how much free space you have on your hard drive, type the
following at the MS-DOS prompt:

  chkdsk

The number of "bytes available on disk" should be equal to at
least 6,291,456 bytes.

Setup hangs
-----------
Because "The Magic School Bus Explores The Oceans" (sic) installs
system files that maybe shared with other applications, it is
best to shut down other applications before running Setup. Do not
remove the Magic School Bus CD during Setup or it will fail.
If you have closed all other open applications, and you encounter
problems during Setup check the system requirements and make sure
you have the minimum requirements necessary to install "The Magic
School Bus Explores The Oceans" (sic).

Need 256-color video
--------------------
This program requires that your video driver support a screen
resolution of at least 640x480 (although the program will support
higher screen resolutions). In addition, the program requires
that your video driver is able to display 256 colors.

To install the required video driver follow the instructions in
your Microsoft Windows User's Guide under Display driver -
updating.

Error message about sound
-------------------------
An error message about sound may indicate that your sound driver
is either not installed, not installed correctly, not configured
correctly, or is in use.

Display problems with S3 chipset based video display card
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you notice problems with your display and you are using a
video display card based on the S3 chipset, you may need to
update your Windows 3.1 video driver.

You can obtain the most recent update driver from your video
display card manufacturer. Check in your video display card
documentation for the best method to contact the manufacturer for
these drivers.

To install the updated video driver follow the instructions
provided from the manufacturer, or the instructions in your
Microsoft Windows User's Guide under Display driver - updating.

***Microsoft Windows 95***

Not enough disk space
