SYMPTOMS

When you are connected to MSN, The Microsoft Network, using a local area network
(LAN), you may receive messages that indicate a modem connection, such as:
The modem connection has been lost.
CAUSE
=====
MSN does not support LAN connections. All messages were originally written
assuming use of a modem when connecting to MSN.
STATUS

This behavior is by design.
