SYMPTOMS

The Compass navigation tool is always on the World Atlas desktop. No setting to
turn off or minimize the tool is provided.
STATUS
======
This is by design. The compass is intended to remain in the foreground.
No plans exist for an option that would allow you to minimize or disable the
Compass navigation tool.
MORE INFORMATION
================
The Compass is the primary navigation tool for Encarta 96 World Atlas. The tool
allows you to center the map over any point on the surface of the Earth, zoom by
changing the altitude of the view and the map scale, or rotate the map to any
angle.
Click MOVE to center the map at any location. If you click the outer edge of the
Compass tool, you rotate the Earth.
