-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

- The Microsoft Network versions 1.2, 1.3, 2.0, 2.5
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

If you click the Remember My Password check box to select it in the MSN, The
Microsoft Network Sign-In screen, the check box may be cleared the next time you
sign in to MSN. Also, the number of asterisks in the Password box may be
different from the length of your password.

CAUSE
=====

These symptoms may occur when you use a password to log on to Windows 95/98 and
change your MSN password to a password with 16 characters.

NOTE: The Remember My Password option works with a long password for MSN if you
do not use a password to log on to Windows 95/98; however, if you do not use a
Windows 95/98 password, you cannot use the user profiles feature of Windows
95/98.

RESOLUTION
==========

If you use a password to log on to Windows 95/98, you have two options:

- Always enter your MSN password, and do not use the Remember My Password
  option.

- Change your MSN password to less than 16 characters.
