If you are not using the Compaq SmartStart CD, use the following procedure
to upgrade your Compaq computer from Windows NT 3.1 to Windows NT 3.51:
1. Apply Windows NT 3.1 Service Pack 3 and Compaq Support Software Diskette
(SSD) 1.05b.
2. Upgrade to Windows NT 3.5 and apply Compaq SSD 1.15.
3. Upgrade to Windows NT 3.51
4. Re-apply Compaq Software Support Software Diskette SSD 1.15 or later to
ensure you are running on the most current drivers.
NOTE: The SmartStart CD includes additional Compaq management files,
management services and specific Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL)
files for Compaq computers.
NOTE: If you have problems with this upgrade on a computer running the
TCP/IP network protocol, unintstalling TCP/IP before upgrading and then
reinstalling it afterwards may help.
