SUMMARY
=======

The Microsoft Network icon that appears on your computer's desktop does not
appear in the Desktop folder in Windows Explorer.

The Microsoft Network icon is not in the Desktop folder because the icon is
created using a registry key, not a file. This is similar to the method used to
create the My Computer, Network Neighborhood, and Recycle Bin icons, which also
do not appear in the Desktop folder.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The properties for The Microsoft Network icon shows the type as a long string of
numbers. This behavior is by design. The Microsoft Network icon is a specific
type registered with Windows 95/98. The type is shown in the way that Windows
95/98 displays file properties.
