SUMMARY
=======

This article provides instructions on how to install the Novell ODINSUP
(ODI/NDIS) driver to work with the TCP/IP protocol included with Microsoft
Network Client for MS-DOS, version 3.0. This article discusses the following
using the Intel EtherExpress 16 TP network card as an example:

- Network Client and ODINSUP Setup Instructions

- Sample PROTOCOL.INI

- Sample SYSTEM.INI

- Sample CONFIG.SYS

- Sample AUTOEXEC.BAT

- Sample NET.CFG

For additional information regarding the Novell ODINSUP.COM driver, contact
Novell Technical Support at (800) 638-9273. ODINSUP.COM and other Netware
drivers are available on CompuServe (Go NOVLIB/NOVFILES) or on Novell's FTP
server.

Network Client And ODINSUP Setup Instructions
---------------------------------------------

Because this configuration requires the Novell IPXODI driver, make sure you can
connect to a NetWare server using the IPXODI driver and NETX.EXE or VLM.

1. From the CLIENTS\MSCLIENT\DISKS subdirectory of the Windows NT Server version
  3.5 CD, copy the contents of DISK1 and DISK2 to blank floppy disks. Label the
  disks Disk 1 and Disk 2.

2. Run SETUP from Disk 1 to install Microsoft Network Client.

3. Specify the location of the Network Client installation and press ENTER.

4. For the adapter driver, select the ODI/NDIS support driver.


1. Enter the user name. In the next screen, verify or change the computer name,
  workgroup name, and domain name.

2. Change the setup options if necessary. This screen enables you to change your
  redirector, startup, logon and network pop-up options.

3. Select Change Network Configuration. You should see the ODI/NDIS Support
  Driver as your adapter name. Remove the default protocol by selecting NWLink
  and then choosing Remove.

4. When Setup prompts you to select a protocol, select Microsoft TCP/IP. This
  returns you to the Network Configuration screen. The upper box should now
  show the ODI/NDIS Support Driver and Microsoft TCP/IP.

5. Highlight Microsoft TCP/IP and select Change Settings. If you are using
  Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), set Disable Automatic
  Configuration to 0 (zero). If not, it should equal to 1. If you are not using
  DHCP, you need to add your IP address, subnet mask and default gateway
  information. Make sure that the IP addresses use a space and not a period to
  separate segments for any IP addresses.

  NOTE: If you use DHCP, you can leave your IP address at 0 0 0 0 and the other
  fields blank.

6. After the configuration for Network Client is complete, insert the disk with
  Novell's ODINSUP.COM (when requested).

  Setup continues to copy files from Disk 1 and may prompt you for Disk 2.

7. When Setup finishes, restart your computer. You should then be able to login
  to your Netware server and then logon to Microsoft Network resources.
