SYMPTOMS
========

When you are using the Sound Blaster Pro card and the Windows Sound System
version 2.0 software, you receive the following general protection (GP) fault
with software using sounds:

  Application Error - <filename> caused a General Protection Fault in
  module WSSSBPRO.DRV at 0001:1993

For example, the error can occur when:

- You select a guide for a guided tour (as well as at other points) with
  Microsoft Ancient Lands.

- Microsoft Mail attempts to play the sound for incoming mail.

- The After Dark screen saver activates.

- You run MindMaze from Microsoft Encarta, 1995 Edition.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows Sound System version
2.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
