SUMMARY
=======

This article describes the version 3.0 Microsoft Mail for Windows client
installation process. It tells you which files are transferred, modified, or
replaced when you install version 3.0 of Microsoft Mail for Windows, on a
Microsoft Windows version 3.0a or 3.1 client workstation. Windows 3.0a
differences, if any, are noted at the end of each section.

The primary purpose of this article is to give Mail administrators a rough idea
of what happens during the setup process. Use this document as a guide when
doing a manual installation.

Adds three lines to the existing [Extensions] section:

Modifications to WINFILE.INI
----------------------------

Creates new [AddOns] section or modifies existing [AddOns] section:

Changes to Program Manager
--------------------------

Creates new group file (MICROSOF.GRP) if one does not exist and adds the
Microsoft Mail icon as a group item with these properties:

  Description:        Microsoft Mail
  Command Line:       \MSMAIL\msmail.exe
  Working Directory:  \MSMAIL

Changes to REG.DAT
------------------

Places a line in the registration database (REG.DAT) for Microsoft Mail using
\MSMAIL\MSMAIL.EXE as the command line.
